Friends of JJ Helps Bring Home Pediatric Patient

In early August, Friends of JJ was contacted by a staff member of at a local hospital seeking help for a critically ill 11 year old patient. The child was being treated for a degenerative neuromuscular disease at the hospitals PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). The child was staying there with their siblings and single mother. The goal for this patient was to get the family home with the necessarily medical supplies but due to the family having no insurance this seemed impossible. The most significant item on the list was a BiPap Machine and Oxygen. A BiPap machine is a ventilator that would assist the patient with breathing by supplying pressurized air into their airways. Friends of JJ decided to donate this machine and oxygen for the patient. We were honored to be able to make such an important donation that would enhance the quality of life for the patient and their family. Within two weeks from the request the child was released from the hospital and the family was able to return home comfortably.
