Dear Friends of JJ Supporters,
Since February, our family has been navigating an unexpected medical challenge involving JJ's dad, who has always been an important part of Friends of JJ and everything we do. We are grateful to share very encouraging news as he focuses on recovery. Supporting him remains our family's priority, and Friends of JJ has been a little quieter as a result.
While we've taken this unexpected step back, the need for help has continued to grow. We have received more than 100 requests for assistance, the majority from families with children battling cancer. Our focus will be on supporting these families.
Because of this, we've made the difficult decision not to run our Toys of Joy program this year. We know how much this tradition means to our supporters and families, and we are truly sorry that we won't be able to continue it this season. We will only be accepting toys from a select few corporations that organize substantial toy collections on our behalf.
This is a pause, not an ending.
Although our traditional holiday programs will be on pause, Friends of JJ will continue accepting monetary donations throughout the remainder of the year, especially during the holiday season. More than 100 families is an extraordinary number for our small organization to support, and financial donations will make a tremendous difference. If you are able, please consider making a donation through our website.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help us provide relief, comfort, and joy to families who need it. We are hopeful that the new year will bring a fresh start, including the return of our annual fundraisers, events, and programs.
Thank you for giving us the grace and understanding to put our family first during this unexpected season, and for continuing to stand behind Friends of JJ and our mission. Your support right now means more to us - and to the families we serve - than you know. We are incredibly grateful for this community and look forward to being together again in the new year.
With love and gratitude, Friends of JJ & The Messana Family
